Made in Qinzhou, Guangxi Province, Nixing pottery (坭兴陶) is celebrated as one of China's Four Great Pottery Traditions. For generations, tea drinkers have favored Nixing clay for brewing Liu Bao, Shou Puerh, aged Raw Puerh, and other heicha, appreciating the way it complements these richer teas without overpowering their natural character.

The clay undergoes a reduction firing at high temperatures, allowing its colors to emerge naturally. Every teapot develops its own unique combination of earthy tones, ranging from warm bronze and reddish-purple to charcoal and deep purple-brown, making each piece one of a kind.

The dense structure of Nixing clay excels at holding heat throughout a tea session, encouraging consistent extractions over many infusions. The clay subtly rounds out bitterness, softens astringency, enhances natural sweetness, and creates a smoother, fuller texture in the cup.
