Updated July 2024:

From time to time, we have to update our inventory due to weather conditions. We strive to find the closest quality to the one everyone has been loving. The new Royal matcha is now 100% organic, made by the inventor of organic matcha in Japan. It is a mixed cultivar of Okumidori, Saemidori, and Tsuyuhikari - all three are our favorite cultivars when it comes to quality matcha. There is a slight bitterness in this blend, but it is followed by amazing creaminess and sweetness. This matcha also has the perfect creaminess that makes you feel satisfied. You can still drink this with no sugar or cream. The fact that it is organic will make your body feel much better after drinking this matcha.

Matcha is a type of green tea that originates from Japan. It is made from shade-grown tea leaves that are ground into a powder. This powder is then whisked with hot water to produce a frothy drink. Matcha is traditionally prepared using a chasen bamboo whisk, chawan bowl, and chashaku scoop.

The Best Way to Prepare Matcha:

There are two basic types of matcha preparations, usucha and koicha. Usucha is the more common preparation, and it uses 2 grams of matcha with 150-200 ml of water. Koicha is a thicker preparation that uses 4-5 grams of matcha with 50-70 ml of water. Only the best matcha like this Royal matcha tastes good with koicha style.

Here are the steps for preparing usucha:

1. Take 2 grams (about 1.5 chashaku bamboo scoops) of matcha and place it into your bowl.

2. Using the tips of your chasen bamboo whisks, break apart any clumps (using a sifter may also help).

3. Take water at 65-70C/155-165F degrees and pour it into your bowl.

4. Using the whisk, slowly make an "M" shape in your bowl. As you speed up the whisk, bubbles (froth) will form.

For Koicha, use about 50-70 ml of water. For Usucha, use 150-200 ml of water.

Matcha is a delicious and healthy alternative to coffee or other energy drinks. It provides a sustained energy boost without the crash that comes with caffeine overload. Read more about matcha health benefits here.

Try it for yourself and see how good it can be!
