Jingdezhen Wood-Firied Porcelain Gaiwans (Approx. 70-100 ml)
Dimensions: 3-4.75" wide x 3-3.25" tall

These Handcrafted Jingdezhen Wood-Fired Gaiwans are living testaments to the power of fire, earth, and time—each one shaped not only by the artist’s hand but by the unpredictable alchemy of flame itself.

Created using a traditional wood-firing technique, these pieces endure hours inside a dragon kiln, a.k.a. 龍窯 (lóng yáo) kiln, as the artist tends to the kiln for the entire duration, where wood ash drifts through the heat and settles onto the porcelain, forming natural, one-of-a-kind glazes. The process is wildly unpredictable—every firing produces new textures and colors that can never be repeated. It’s a labor of patience and precision, where beauty is discovered, not controlled.

The result is breathtaking. Each gaiwan tells its own elemental story—patterns reminiscent of volcanic stone, hot springs, and wind-swept cliffs, with subtle mineral sheens and flecks of ash frozen into the glaze. Some surfaces glimmer like cooled lava, others feel as tranquil as mountain mist rising from a forested valley.

Handcrafted in Jingdezhen, the Porcelain Capital of China for over a thousand years, these pieces carry forward an ancient legacy of mastery and experimentation. They embody the meeting of tradition and raw nature, the spirit that defines true artisanal teaware.

No two are ever alike. Each wood-fired gaiwan is a small landscape, a fleeting moment in fire, and a reminder that even in stillness, nature moves. Perfect for any tea session that celebrates the beauty of imperfection and the artistry of chance.
