Leo's Personal Take (April 28, 2024): When the previous batches sold out, I knew it's going to be hard to top that batch. So when I asked my farmer if they have any more of the same batch, and he told me no, I was very sad. I tried many of his other batches, and I don't think any of them were better than the one I got. But he convinced me that he is making a new batch and the crop situation is much better than last year. So I took a risk and get a few kilos. The first day I got my hand on the new batch, I immediately drink them grandpa style. Immediately I noticed the difference between the new batch and the old batch. I would say this one has a much sweeter honey aroma, reminds me of the old competition grade honey Jinjunmei we had a couple of years ago. When you take a sip, though, there are so much complexity that my brain just couldn't comprehend of what am I tasting. I then decided to brew the tea in a tumbler, and see how bitter can it turn. Oh boy, even after letting the tea in my tumbler for 4–5 hours, I didn't notice any bitterness at all. I was very impressed! The next day, I try again with a gaiwan, and it gives me everything I want in the perfect black tea - smooth, thick, buttery, strong honey notes, tiny bits of malty notes, layers of fresh flower, cooling and lingering aftertaste. My whole body just feels happy after having this tea. I am seriously running out of words to describe how amazing this black tea is! It is a 10 out of 10 in my opinion. I am now very happy and afraid that I would never top this tea in the future. If you love a good black tea, give it a try and tell me what you think! |
