Yixing “Minglu” Teapot (Approx. 170ml)

“Ming Lu” literally refers to an open or visible brazier, and the design carries that feeling of warmth and gathering around tea. Its body is full and rounded, with a calm, balanced silhouette that feels traditional without being overly ornate.

The pot is made from Yixing zisha clay, with a warm reddish-brown tone and a naturally understated surface. Rather than relying on decoration, the beauty is in the proportion, the clay, and the craftsmanship—the smooth transition from body to spout, the fitted lid, and the comfortable handle.

In use, the rounded body gives the tea leaves generous room to open, while the direct spout produces a clean, confident pour. Like many Yixing pots, it is also meant to become more personal with use: as you brew with it over time, the surface gradually develops a richer, softer character.

It’s a teapot that becomes more beautiful through making tea, not simply through being displayed.

About Yixing Handcrafted Teawares

Experience the artistry and tradition of Chinese tea with this handcrafted teapot, made from authentic Yixing zisha clay (紫砂 / “purple sand”). Originating from Yixing in Jiangsu Province—the birthplace of Chinese purple clay teapots—this clay is prized for its porous, mineral-rich composition, which allows the teapot to “breathe” and gradually absorb tea oils, enhancing flavor with every use.

Yixing teapots are especially suited for oolong, puerh, and black teas. Darker oolongs like Tieguanyin and Da Hong Pao benefit from the teapot’s heat retention and flavor-enhancing properties, while both raw and ripe puerh teas are mellowed and deepened over time. Even black teas gain enhanced sweetness and complexity from repeated use in this teapot.

To fully take advantage of the teapot’s seasoning potential, it is recommended to choose one category of tea—such as oolong, shou puerh, sheng puerh, or black tea—and stick to only that type in this vessel. This ensures that the clay absorbs and enhances the flavor of your chosen tea category, rather than developing mixed characteristics that could dilute its effect.
