Experience the enchanting allure of Shanlinxi High Mountain Black Tea, a super-premium offering from Taiwan's high-altitude Shan Lin Xi region. Unlike the typical oolong teas that this region is famous for, our Shanlinxi Black Tea is a unique and precious brew that unfolds an irreplaceable legend in every cup.
Each sip of this premium black tea reveals a symphony of flavors, starting with the dominating tangy notes of stone fruits like peach and cherry. These are expertly balanced with undercurrents of fresh vanilla and wintergreen, resulting in an expansive liveliness that is a hallmark of Taiwanese teas. As the brew settles, you will notice the charming aroma of honey, which lends a silky smoothness to the taste. This delightful sweetness is complemented by the presence of balsam notes, adding a touch of the exotic to your tea-drinking experience.
The appearance of the tea itself is a visual treat. It is strip-shaped, boasting a deep, lustrous red hue that is a feast for the eyes. Unlike other black teas, it remains light and full of flavor, without any trace of astringency even after a long time of brewing.
What truly sets the Shanlinxi Black Tea apart is its peculiar, singular aroma. Once brewed, it releases a dominant scent of young, sappy wood - almost like the green freshness of a high mountain forest captured in a teacup. Layered within this are elements of wood, musk, honeysuckle, prunes, and spice, creating a sensory journey that is as profound as it is enjoyable.
Whether you're a seasoned tea connoisseur or a curious newcomer, the Shanlinxi High Mountain Black Tea promises an unforgettable experience. Its well-rounded flavor, exquisite fragrance, and refreshing mineral mouthfeel characteristic of Taiwanese High Mountain Teas make it a delightful choice for any tea lover.

Leo's Personal Take (April 28, 2024): When the previous batches sold out, I knew it's going to be hard to top that batch. So when I asked my farmer if they have any more of the same batch, and he told me no, I was very sad. I tried many of his other batches, and I don't think any of them were better than the one I got. But he convinced me that he is making a new batch and the crop situation is much better than last year. So I took a risk and get a few kilos. The first day I got my hand on the new batch, I immediately drink them grandpa style. Immediately I noticed the difference between the new batch and the old batch. I would say this one has a much sweeter honey aroma, reminds me of the old competition grade honey Jinjunmei we had a couple of years ago. When you take a sip, though, there are so much complexity that my brain just couldn't comprehend of what am I tasting. I then decided to brew the tea in a tumbler, and see how bitter can it turn. Oh boy, even after letting the tea in my tumbler for 4–5 hours, I didn't notice any bitterness at all. I was very impressed! The next day, I try again with a gaiwan, and it gives me everything I want in the perfect black tea - smooth, thick, buttery, strong honey notes, tiny bits of malty notes, layers of fresh flower, cooling and lingering aftertaste. My whole body just feels happy after having this tea. I am seriously running out of words to describe how amazing this black tea is! It is a 10 out of 10 in my opinion. I am now very happy and afraid that I would never top this tea in the future. If you love a good black tea, give it a try and tell me what you think! |

This tea lives up to the hype as a fragrant, flavor diverse tea among a category known for these traits. It not only exemplifies Taiwanese black teas, but surpasses the usual bouquets. The liquor is hydrating and a beautiful color.
Easy to abuse, doesn’t seem to be very fussy if I leave it brewing longer. Still a sweet light taste! Many brews out of one 5g serving. Soooo good!
My husband bought me a bunch of tea from this company for Christmas and I think he is finally starting to understand my pickyness. The leaf is sort of boxey smelling. Like you just opened up a cardboard pallet of fresh paper. There are golden trichomes all over the bag. Twisted leaves with stems of varying shades of dark browns and dark olive greens. The inital aroma is filled with relaxing creamy and woody notes. Which were almost promptly ruined by the smell of spray paint wafting in from outside after my husband opened the sliding door. First taste at 30 seconds reveals squash notes and cherry wood. One minute shows more of the same. The mouthfeel is smooth. And now at two minutes, I’m finding so interesting bready notes. The second infusion at one minute isn’t as strong but there are still plenty of notes to keep going. A bit of caramel and cinnamon to round this one out nicely as it steeps for around three minutes.
Firstly let me preface my review that I am biased that I am not a huge black/red tea fan . For reference , I brewed it gong fu style . The tea was clear and lasted about 5-6 brews . Smooth with no bitterness . Not a particularly complex tea but enjoyable nonetheless.
