Jingdezhen “Huai Ying” Jade Porcelain Gongfu Teapot (Approx. 110 ml)
Dimensions: 4.5" wide x 3.5" tall
For centuries, the city of Jingdezhen has been revered as the birthplace of China’s finest porcelain. Nestled in the mountains of Jiangxi province, this historic hub has nurtured a ceramic tradition unmatched in clarity, strength, and elegance. The region’s rare white clay allows artisans to craft porcelain so delicate and refined that it glows with a soft inner light when held to the flame — a signature trait of truly exceptional Jingdezhen ware.
We sourced this teapot directly from Jingdezhen’s master potters, and the evenness of its translucent glow is a hallmark of truly high-level porcelain work — a visual reminder of the centuries of craftsmanship behind each curve.
The “Huaixi” teapot shape takes inspiration from traditional Yuan dynasty teapot forms and Tibetan monk-hat vessels. Its rounded, full body and short squat neck are topped with a smooth, low lid — often finished with a subtle bead-shaped knob — creating a visually harmonious and compact silhouette. The duck-bill-inspired spout is seamlessly curved into the body, giving it a soft elegance and precise, ergonomic pour.
This form is both symbolic and functional:
-
A full, stable body ideal for heat retention
-
A smooth interior suited for aromatic teas like oolongs or green teas
-
A graceful form that blends historical ritual with modern refinement
The “Huaixi” design reflects a long lineage of imperial tea aesthetics, echoing quiet strength and understated balance. This piece celebrates the marriage of form, symbolism, and function — a serene companion for daily gongfu sessions.
