Jingdezhen “Wan Bi” Pure White Jade Porcelain Gongfu Teapot (Approx. 145 ml)
Dimensions: 4.5" wide x 3.5" tall
For over a thousand years, Jingdezhen has been known as China’s “Porcelain Capital,” producing some of the world’s finest ceramics since the Song dynasty. Its local kaolin clay is remarkably pure, allowing master artisans to craft porcelain that’s thin, strong, and beautifully translucent — so clear and even it glows softly when lit from within.
We traveled directly to Jingdezhen to source this teapot from the hands of skilled makers. The result is an exquisite piece that shows off that perfect, even translucency — a true mark of authentic, high-level porcelain craftsmanship.
The name “Dragon Egg” (龙蛋) dates back to Ming dynasty writer Wu Dingmei, who described this shape as “round like a pellet, slightly elongated — like a dragon’s egg.” In Chinese legend, the mythical Pixiu — a dragon’s ninth son — is said to hatch from such eggs, bringing good fortune and guarding prosperity. This soft, rounded silhouette carries that same auspicious symbolism, with a shape that feels playful, stable, and timeless.
Every detail is intentional:
-
The short, straight, cone-shaped spout pours smoothly and cleanly.
-
A matching bead-shaped knob echoes the egg form, completing the graceful look.
-
The smooth interior and classic balance make this teapot perfect for fragrant oolongs and delicate teas that deserve a clean, neutral vessel.
The Dragon Egg teapot is more than a brewing tool — it’s a quiet nod to Chinese legend, a celebration of elegant form, and a warm companion for your daily gongfu sessions.
