This Bamboo Leaves Qinghua Gaiwan & Teacup Set is created by the same artist behind The Cerulean Tales Qinghua Gaiwan, using the same beautiful qinghua cobalt blue underglaze paired with a contemporary dark stoneware clay body.

Traditional qinghua involves painting cobalt onto unfired clay, sealing it beneath a clear glaze, and firing it once at high temperature in a reduction atmosphere. Achieving a deep, stable blue is a delicate balance of brushwork, cobalt quality, glaze behavior, and kiln control—long regarded as a benchmark of ceramic craftsmanship.

In this set, the artist brings that technique into a more whimsical, illustrative direction. Each piece is hand-crafted and hand-painted with gentle bamboo leaf motifs, giving the surface a calm, storybook-like quality. While the gaiwan and teacups retain a grounded, stoic presence through their dark stoneware body and rich blue palette, the flowing bamboo imagery and the softly rounded, bubbly silhouette of the teacups introduce a sense of play and organic movement.

The contrast is intentional. The serious material and color are softened by relaxed forms and lighthearted brushwork. In the hand, the cups feel inviting and easy, creating a quiet tension between structure and softness, discipline and ease.

This balance is what makes the set special:
quiet bamboo brushwork, confident cobalt blue, weighty stoneware—balanced by just enough softness to keep everything human.

Each set is hand-painted and one of a kind, made for tea drinkers who appreciate subtle contrasts, gentle charm, and pottery that feels quietly alive on the table.
