Liu Bao tea is a traditional Chinese dark tea from Liu Bao township in Cangwu County, Wuzhou City, Guangxi Province. It’s known for its distinctive characteristics often described as “red, rich, aged, mellow.”

This 2012 Premium Liu Bao Heicha isn’t just another Liu Bao—it’s a refined experience that redefines what this tea can offer. From its smooth, full-bodied texture to its subtle yet captivating flavors, this tea stands apart as a true example of premium craftsmanship and aging.

Unlike many Liu Bao teas, this one forgoes the heavy smokiness and astringency, offering instead a mellow and approachable profile compared to other liubao heicha. Its deep red, clear, and bright tea greets you with a clean, applewood-like woodiness, followed by a comforting, silky mouthfeel that coats the throat without a hint of dryness. This tea also has a full and satisfying body. Notes of walnut-like nuttiness and a gentle brown sugar sweetness linger in the aftertaste, creating a balanced and clean finish that makes every sip crave-worthy. With subsequent infusions, the flavors evolve beautifully, becoming sweeter and nuttier while retaining the tea’s clean, woody essence.

The tea’s unique qualities come from its processing, which includes pile fermentation in a hot and humid environment. This method, combined with the natural activity of microorganisms and enzymes, transforms the tea and gives it its signature characteristics.

Brewing this tea is effortless.

To brew gongfu style: Start with 5 grams of tea leaves and a 90ml gaiwan. Begin by giving the leaves a quick rinse with water heated to 204°F (96°C) to awaken their aroma and flavor. For the first infusion, steep for 10 seconds. For subsequent infusions, increase the steeping time by additional 3–5 seconds.

This tea’s premium quality makes it incredibly forgiving. Even if you oversteep or use boiling water, it retains its smoothness without becoming bitter or dry. With up to 25 flavorful infusions, this tea is perfect for long, leisurely sessions. It’s an ideal companion for moments when your attention is divided—whether you’re working, reading, or enjoying a conversation with friends. Relax and let this comforting tea carry you through your day.

This is more than just a tea—it’s a tea experience. Whether you’re a seasoned Liu Bao enthusiast or someone exploring it for the first time, this 2012 Premium Liu Bao Heicha will make you rethink what Liu Bao can offer. It’s comfort in a cup, crafted to perfection, and a tea that deserves its place in your collection.
