This tea pliers are designed specifically for breaking apart compressed tea cakes and bricks with control and precision.
The dragon-claw shaped jaws gently grip and loosen dense leaves, allowing you to separate tea layers cleanly without crushing or shredding the leaves.
Made from stainless steel with a solid sandalwood handle, this tool provides excellent leverage while remaining comfortable and safe to use. Ideal for tightly compressed or aged Pu’er, where a traditional tea needle may require more force.

Love the dragon claw! Great quality and a beautiful piece of tea equipment! Works great too!
These Dragon Claw Pliers are intended for use when breaking apart pu’erh tea cakes. They are quite expensive compared to the more common knives that people use to break up pu’erh cakes. I have found the knives work well enough breaking up the cakes, but they are inherently dangerous since you hold the cake in one hand and stab into with the knife. It’s never a good idea to point a knife toward any part of your body in use. These pliers eliminate that risk, though they are not very common here in the USA. This particular model functions beautifully, the pliers are spring loaded to make the operation easier and the fit and finish is very good. Anyone who has decided to explore the world of pu’erh teas will find these pliers to be a worthwhile investment, they make breaking apart tea cakes much easier, more precise and much safer.
