Guizhou "Longevity" Maojian Green Tea (長壽寨毛尖) is celebrated for its exceptional quality, grown in the high-altitude regions of Guizhou, China. The region’s commitment to clean, pesticide-free farming enhances the purity and flavor of the tea.

The “Longevity” aspect comes from the local belief that the tea promotes health and longevity, while the name “Maojian” (毛尖,) “fur tips” is for the slender, needle-like tea leaves.

This high quality green tea is very versatile and easy, allowing you to enjoy this tea at multiple temperature points and using different brewing styles.

If brewing Gongfu style, use 3-4 grams of leaves in a 90ml gaiwan and steep for about 25-35 seconds. When brewed at 190°F (87°C), this tea reveals a smooth, silky texture that coats the mouth and throat. The tea offers a balanced, fresh vegetable profile with a subtle sweetness reminiscent of corn. This sweetness lingers on the front and sides of the mouth. Its gentle character, smooth body, and sweet floral aftertaste make it an ideal choice for a peaceful, gentle start to the day, or for those who simply enjoy more delicate flavors.

This tea can also be brewed at a higher temperature of 205°F (96°C). If using a 90ml gaiwan, steep for a shorter infusion time of 15-20 seconds. At this temperature, the tea transforms into a more savory experience. While still maintaining a silky texture, the body becomes less thick, with a more pronounced vegetable taste, including hints of green bell pepper and a slight peppery spice. The tea also takes on a more golden-green appearance. This higher temperature brew provides a more pronounced savory profile rather than sweet, allowing it to hold its own against and pairing well with light, savory snacks. The tea can be enjoyed through 4 to 5 infusions without losing its quality.

For an even easier tea session, try brewing this Grandpa Style. Put the same 3-4 grams of tea leaves directly in a glass cup or mug and add 205°F (96°C) water, leaving enough room for you to comfortably hold the glass (roughly 300ml/g of water). Drinking it this way allows you enjoy the tea at every stage as the tea can steep continuously, offering evolving flavors. Unlike low quality green teas that get bitter when steeped too long, this Guizhou "Longevity" Maojian Green Tea will not get bitter even if you let it continuously steep while you take your time drinking it. Using this method is easy and relaxing, ideal for enjoying tea without formalities.

With its versatility and its easy brewing methods, this tea allows for tea enthusiasts of all levels to enjoy a great green tea with wonderful texture and depth.
