Our most popular premium Chinese black tea!
The creation of Jin Jun Mei in 2005 was both a close alternative and an introduction to the pine-wood smoked version of Lapsang Souchong for those who couldn't appreciate its robust smokey flavor and aroma.
Jin Jun Mei and unsmoked Lapsang Souchong debuted in the same year, yet they are different. Jin Jun Mei is made with buds exclusively while unsmoked Lapsang uses two leaves to one bud.
The English translation of this tea may be a bit confusing - "Golden Steed Eyebrow" - but nothing is confusing about the taste! Deep chocolate notes lead to a full-bodied tea that almost tastes thick and sweet, leaving behind an aftertaste.
This Jinjunmei is crafted from the Fuyun No#6 cultivar, renowned for its fluffy leaves that transform into gorgeous golden hairs during processing. Its flavor is like a touch of honey, not too overpowering, with a delightful hint of milk chocolate. The tea has a delicate taste, and the soup is crystal clear, never cloudy.

I love everything about this tea. I’ve tried both suggestions for brewing and I think I prefer the sweet method. Thanks for the detailed brewing instructions on many of your teas. The more detailed, the better. Thank you for sharing these incredible teas. I bought many varieties and shared half of them with my sister in law. We’ve had so much fun trying different teas this month and discussing them.
When I follow the precise instructions to brew this tea it’s amazing, complex and delightful. But I think it’s easy to make a brewing mistake for newbie’s to excellent tea like me. I’m going to keep playing with it.
I’ve had this tea twice in the cold morning and it’s nice. I need to have it a few more times to really appreciate it.
I just received the 2023 honey jinjunmei and I am in heaven. What depth of flavor! It smells like a bakery and the first notes that hit your tongue are caramelly and sweet and then mellows out like dark chocolate. I regret not buying more. I can already tell this will sell out fast.
