Fresh Dried Duckshit Green Oolong

This Fresh Dried Duckshit Green Oolong (抽丝鸭屎香) is a unique expression of the classic Pheonix Duckshit Oolong tea using a special “fresh drying” method. The term “抽丝” (chōu sī) translates to “silk drawing” or “fresh drying” referring to a specific technique used during the tea’s production. This method involves carefully controlling the moisture content of the tea leaves to preserve their natural aroma and flavor. The leaves are dried at low temperatures to prevent the loss of volatile aromas, resulting in an oolong tea with a rich and complex fragrance and a bright green color.

The tea has a sweet milky aroma of sweet cream that transforms into a bouquet of flowers in your mouth with floral notes of jasmine and rose, with sweet fruity notes of pineapple. The tea has a slightly dry and floral finish, counterbalancing the sweetness of the tea. The floral aftertaste fills your mouth and nose and lingers. The caffeine content is relatively high, so pairing this tea with a light snack will be the perfect pick-me-up in the early afternoon.

To brew this unique oolong, we recommend brewing it gongfu style and treating it similar to a green tea by using lower temperature water.

Gongfu Brewing Method: Use 5 grams of tea leaves with a 90 ml gaiwan and 180F water. Give it a quick rinse, then steep for 12-15 seconds for the first infusion. The tea should be a light golden green. For the next 5 infusions only steep for 3 seconds before pouring. After the 5th infusion, steep for an additional 1-2 seconds longer than the previous infusion. You should be able to enjoy up to 7-8 brews. Although this tea does not become bitter when over-steeped, it has a tendency to become dryer, so it is important to brew with quick infusions.
