Warm, nutty, and comforting, this Asamiya Light Roast Houjicha captures the quiet beauty of Japan’s historic tea region in every sip.

Made mostly from tea stems and gently roasted over low heat, this lighter style of houjicha highlights the tea’s natural sweetness and buttery aroma rather than deep smokiness. Each sip brings soft, nutty notes of peanut butter and buttery popcorn, a touch of caramel-like sweetness, and a lingering smooth toastiness that stays on the palate.

Sourced from Asamiya in Shiga Prefecture, one of Japan’s five great ancient tea regions, this tea grows among misty hills and cool mountain air where the sharp contrast between day and night temperatures nurtures teas with exceptional aroma and depth.

Low in caffeine and gentler on the stomach, this houjicha is forgiving — perfect for slow evenings, after meals, or any time you want a tea that soothes without effort.

How to Brew:
Use 5g of tea in a 120–150ml kyusu, teapot, or houhin.
Brew with 195°F (91°C) water for 30 seconds.
For the third infusion, steep slightly longer — about 35–40 seconds.

Notes: Buttery Popcorn, Peanut Butter, Caramel
