Discover the unparalleled quality and unique charm of Yame Japanese Organic Izumi Black Tea. Yame, renowned for its exquisite Gyokuro, brings you a remarkable black tea that defies traditional expectations. Most tea from Yame is not organic, making this organic black tea a rare gem.
Exceptional Quality
In Japan, black tea is often considered inferior to its Indian and Chinese counterparts. However, Yame's Izumi Black Tea stands out, outperforming most Indian black teas and even surpassing some Chinese varieties. While it may not yet rival the highest quality Chinese black teas, its impressive flavor profile marks it as a notable contender in the world of black tea.
The Izumi Cultivar
The Izumi cultivar is a unique tea variety known for its distinct characteristics. Originating from Japan, specifically from the Yame region in Fukuoka Prefecture, the Izumi cultivar is prized for its robust flavor and rich aroma. The leaves are typically dark and have a slightly twisted appearance, indicative of careful processing. This cultivar produces tea with a full-bodied flavor, smooth texture, and subtle notes of fruit and natural sweetness. The Izumi cultivar is known for its adaptability to various growing conditions, contributing to its high quality and consistency.
Flavor Profile and Characteristics
Izumi black tea offers a rich, well-balanced flavor with a smooth finish. Its taste is characterized by a combination of mild sweetness and a hint of fruitiness, making it a delightful choice for black tea enthusiasts. The tea leaves, when brewed, release a deep amber liquor with a complex aroma that lingers pleasantly on the palate.

Stand out black tea with prominent sweet and delicious fruit notes. Full mouthfeel and aroma. There is an hint of lemongrass/ginger like notes to my nose which gives a unique flavor profile. Repeated steeps results in mild astringency but in a good way. Must try!
