This Bi Luo Chun (碧螺春) has a brighter floral and fresh green character than our other Bi Luo Chun. It opens with a clean, vegetal taste and a gentle, rice-like sweetness, then finishes with a light floral note that’s a bit like gardenia. The whole experience is crisp, refreshing, and leaves a cooling feeling.
Picked at the end of April, this Bi Luo Chun is made using only the finest silver tips. The name means “Green Snail Spring,” inspired by its tiny, tightly rolled leaves that look like little snail shells — and the fact that it’s always an early spring harvest when the buds are young and tender.
Gongfu Style Brewing:
Brew this Bi Luo Chun using 3 grams of tea in a 90–100 ml gaiwan or a small lidded teapot — these help keep the delicate aroma from drifting away. To bring out its sweet and delicate character, use a lower brewing temperature — around 185°F (85°C) — and a slightly longer steep time of 15–20 seconds.
Take care not to over-steep, as this can bring out too much bitterness and hide the tea’s natural sweetness.
If you’re looking for a refreshing, everyday Chinese green tea, this Bi Luo Chun is a perfect choice — light, crisp, and easy to enjoy throughout the day.
