Crafted from authentic Yixing purple clay (紫泥), this gaiwan brings the spirit of Yixing teaware into the classic three-piece brewing form. Unlike porcelain gaiwans, the porous structure of zisha clay gently softens the water and rounds the texture of the tea, allowing the leaves to express deeper aroma and body.
The surface is decorated using a traditional “jump-blade” carving technique (跳刀纹), where the artisan rhythmically cuts the clay to create hundreds of small facets across the body and lid. The pattern catches light from every angle, giving the gaiwan a dynamic texture that feels both modern and rooted in traditional craftsmanship.
Its balanced proportions and slightly thick clay walls provide excellent heat retention, making it particularly suitable for oolong, puerh, and aged teas. Over time, the clay gradually absorbs the essence of tea, developing a deeper patina unique to the owner.
Capacity: approx. 200 ml
A rare fusion of Yixing clay tradition and the elegance of the gaiwan form, this piece is both a functional brewing tool and a tactile expression of handmade artistry.
