Black Clay Gaiwan Ceremonial Travel Tea Set

I absolutely love this set! I am a beginner at practicing Gung Fu Tea, and this set checks all the boxes for me. It is beautifully made and I love that it’s simple and elegant. It came with everything I need to enjoy tea time, either alone or with friends. It also comes in a wonderful travel case, that I’ve been taking with me on my weekend trips. When I emailed Leo from Tea & Whisk with a few questions he was so kind and responsive! Superb customer service! I would absolutely recommend this set to anyone wanting to indulge in their own tea time escape.

I LOVE this set! It's more than enough for a gongfu ceremony with 4 people. All the parts feel high quality (the wood could be a bit smoother, it feels like it might make splinters if I wipe them with a cloth though). The gaiwan and lid holds the tea leaves in well and it also comes with a strainer so there's no need to worry about tea leaf fragments in anyone's cups. Included was everything listed with an additional tea towel which was a nice addition. For manufacturing reasons, if you buy this you might see a blank space for a tea lid, but that's okay. Leo said it's for a different model of this. It also has a nice mesh compartment on the inside of the lid, which I decided to put a scoop into. However, not everything is perfect so some small feedback: It would be nice to include a tea scoop (which could even fit in the unused space for the teapot lid) and a paper with usage/washing instructions would make this way better than it already is. On the topic of washing, it's very easy to wash (other than the tea holder lid, DO NOT wash that one) since it's just teaware. Rinse everything with warm water (soap optional) and you can wipe the ceramic/metal parts. Unless you modify the wooden parts by sanding or polish, don't wipe them and instead just let it air dry. A bit of a tip for users of this set: It's helpful to somewhat offset the lid for the gaiwan to still keep leaves in and let tea out. Pour with confidence into the strainer and you'll likely have a good pour.

BUYER BEWARE: DO NOT wash the lid to the tea holder. It's better to keep it dry.

I absolutely love this Gong Fu Tea Set. This tea set is very well made, I would recommend buying from tea and whisk. I ordered this tea set and it arrived very quickly, infact it came in 2 day's, which is awesome because I live a really long way from where my tea set was coming from. I plan on buying more from tea and whisk soon.

When I bought it, I had to come in the next day to have Leo explain how to use everything. Brew in gaiwan, then put the filter over the pitcher when done. Pour from the pitcher into the cups to serve. All this is done over the tray so if you spill, it's controlled. The hardest part was learning to pour from the gaiwan😂.
