Jingdezhen “Wan Bi” Pure White Jade Porcelain Gongfu Teapot (Approx. 235 ml)
Dimensions: 3.5" wide x 4" tall
For over a thousand years, Jingdezhen has been known as China’s “Porcelain Capital,” crafting some of the world’s finest ceramics since the Song dynasty. Its local kaolin clay is ultra-pure, allowing artisans to create porcelain that’s thin, strong, and beautifully translucent — so clear and even that it glows softly when lit from within.
We traveled directly to Jingdezhen to source this piece from master makers, and were able to find exquisite, high-quality teapot that showcases exceptional even translucency when backlit — a true sign of genuine, skillful porcelain work.
The “Wan Bi” (婉璧) shape draws inspiration from the ancient jade disc — a symbol of harmony and perfection. Wan means graceful; Bi means jade disc. True to its name, this teapot features soft, balanced curves from body to lid, spout to handle, creating a sense of quiet elegance every time you pour.
It’s designed for perfect brewing with its smooth interior and snug lid help hold gentle heat, making it ideal for fragrant high-mountain oolongs or delicate green teas that shine in pure porcelain.
If you’re looking for your first high-quality teapot — something truly well-made but without spending hundreds — this Jingdezhen “Wan Bi” is an excellent place to start. It brings centuries of porcelain mastery and timeless Chinese symbolism to your tea table in a form that’s practical, elegant, and made to be enjoyed every day.
