Formed from dark stoneware, this gaiwan is cloaked in a rich wine-red exterior glaze, deep and saturated, with a presence that feels both refined and grounded. Red glazes are notoriously difficult to execute well in ceramics. Their chemistry is delicate and temperamental—small shifts in kiln atmosphere, temperature, or mineral balance can dramatically alter the final color.
