To fully experience the renowned almond fragrance of Xingren Xiang Phoenix Oolong, brewing it properly is essential. We recommend using 7-8 grams of tea in a 90ml gaiwan, or a Chaozhou-style teapot, typically no larger than 120ml, for the best results in unlocking its aroma and flavor. Start with a quick rinse, followed by a 195F water for a brief 5-second steep for the first infusion. For the next 4-5 infusions, steep for just 1 second each. You should notice the rich toasted almond notes right from the first infusion.

Take your time with this tea to truly appreciate its lingering fragrance and complex flavors. Slurping the tea while tasting enhances the flavor complexity, allowing you to experience its full depth. Try to avoid drinking this type of tea with an empty stomach - It is best to enjoy Xingren Xiang on a full stomach. The recommendation to avoid drinking Xingren Xiang on an empty stomach is due to its semi-oxidized nature, which can cause discomfort or irritation to the stomach lining. The combination of caffeine and the slightly astringent qualities from the roasting process may increase acidity, leading to discomfort, especially on an empty stomach. Drinking it after a meal helps mitigate these effects, allowing you to enjoy the tea’s flavors without discomfort.  However, the warmth and refreshing sensation it brings to the throat creates a calming and relaxing experience.

This oolong, with its rich toasted almond fragrance and complex flavors, is an ideal tea to pair with snacks or desserts. The warm, nutty notes and refreshing finish make it a perfect companion for an afternoon tea session, allowing you to savor both the tea and your treats. Whether enjoyed alongside something sweet or simply on its own, this tea’s lingering aroma and flavor truly shine during a relaxed afternoon break.

Although Xingren Xiang is still relatively unknown, even among tea enthusiasts in China, we believe it’s important to explore the different Dancong oolongs from the Phoenix region—one of the most beautiful tea-producing areas in the world. The name “Xingren Xiang” literally means "almond fragrance," reflecting the tea's distinctive and elegant character.
