Jin Xuan Oolong, also known as "Milk Oolong," is a tea with a creamy and smooth texture. It has a delightful floral undertone that adds complexity, along with a natural sweetness reminiscent of sweet cream or vanilla. This tea even offers a subtle fruity note, like peaches or apricots. You might also notice a slight vegetal or green note. Overall, Jin Xuan Oolong has a buttery richness that makes it a truly enjoyable tea experience.

This tea is one of Taiwan's four most famous tea cultivars. But most Jin Xuan Oolong in the market has been turned into an artificially flavored milk oolong nowadays. It is getting difficult to find a milk oolong that is not scented. It is even harder to find one that is fully organic. Leo got this tea from a farm that only uses 100% organic fertilizer resulting in the cleanest and most balanced body feel and energy.

This tea was created by Wu Zhenduo in 1981. It's named after his grandmother, Jin Xuan. Jin Xuan Oolong has neat sprouting and vigorous growth, making it the first domestically grown oolong tea in Taiwan!

Jin Xuan Oolong is not as popular as Qing Xin Oolong, but still one of the most important Taiwanese tea inventions. It's known as "No. 12" in the north and "No. 27" in the central regions.

Jin Xuan teas are mostly processed into oolong tea and black tea. We also carry the black tea version of this tea cultivar but with higher oxidation and fermentation levels. The closer the fermentation level is to full fermentation, the more it resembles black tea.

Gongfu Brewing suggestions:

Use approximately 4g of this tea and steep it in a 100ml gaiwan. Give the tea a quick rinse with boiling water. On the first infusion, let it steep for about 60 seconds, followed by 20 seconds on the second infusions. For subsequent infusions, add 5-10 seconds each time. You can enjoy at least 6-8 infusions from this delightful tea.

Very nice tea

This is a nice tea with good complexity of flavor. However, I do prefer the Royal Milk Oolong, it has more flavor.
