This wild tree sheng puerh comes from Bulang mountain in Yunnan. Bulang mountain is famous for its puerh tea production and its wild trees are known for their intense flavor and complexity. This particular sheng has been aged for seven years, giving it a deep, rich character. The leaves are dark and toasty with subtle sweetness as well as a slight smokiness from the aging process. It's earthy and smooth, with a sweet aftertaste that lingers on the tongue. Enjoy this wild tree sheng puerh for its complexity and depth of flavor. It's sure to be a favorite!
Brewing instructions using gaiwan:
1. Place 7 grams of tea leaves into a gaiwan and rinse the leaves with boiling water. Discard the rinse water.
2. Add 90-100ml of 190ºF water to the gaiwan and steep for 10 seconds.
3. After 10 seconds, pour the liquid into your cup or teapot, filling it approximately halfway. Discard the remaining liquid in the gaiwan and refill it with fresh water.
4. Steep for 10 seconds again, then pour the second infusion into your cup or teapot.

An easy-going, fairly forgiving sheng that’s not overly astringent. This makes it good for those new to sheng puerh. It’s a few years old, and comes from wild trees, which gives a decent complexity of flavor - great for the more experienced or advanced puerh connoisseur. This is one of the few teas where I will play around by brewing with different temperatures to get different flavor profiles. Depending on the mood, this means a light tea with very subtle flavor, or a golden tea with sweet grassy taste and an undercurrent of pleasant astringency.
