The stems give the tea a naturally \u003cstrong\u003emild, smooth, and refreshing taste\u003c\/strong\u003e with very little bitterness.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis tea is made for us by the \u003cstrong\u003esame producer who makes our Royal Grade Ceremonial Matcha\u003c\/strong\u003e. It is organically grown in \u003cstrong\u003eKirishima, Kagoshima\u003c\/strong\u003e, an area known for its clean mountain environment and long history of Japanese tea farming.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe first thing you notice is how soft this tea feels on the tongue. It has a \u003cstrong\u003elight caramel sweetness\u003c\/strong\u003e followed by a gentle roasted flavor that reminds us of \u003cstrong\u003efreshly toasted bread\u003c\/strong\u003e. The roast is not heavy or smoky. Instead, the tea stays refreshing and clean, with a \u003cstrong\u003eslightly toasty aftertaste\u003c\/strong\u003e that disappears gently without leaving your mouth dry.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBecause this houjicha contains mostly stems, it is naturally \u003cstrong\u003elower in caffeine\u003c\/strong\u003e than more leaf-heavy teas. Tea stems also contain naturally occurring vitamin C. The stem-heavy material also makes this tea slower to extract, so you can \u003cstrong\u003esteep it longer without worrying as much about bitterness\u003c\/strong\u003e. Steep for \u003cstrong\u003e60–90 seconds\u003c\/strong\u003e for the first infusion. For a stronger cup, feel free to let it steep even longer.
