This Jianzhan teapot is originated from Jianyang District, Nanping City, Northern Fujian Province. The popularity peaked around the Song dynasty in China which ended its popularity around the Ming dynasty. Fortunately, Japan and Korea continued its popularity for many years later.
Jianzhan glazes are all basically the same, but due to different firing temperatures and positioning within the kiln, the fired glazes are totally unique from each other.
These teapots are high in iron content. The thickness of the teacup helps retain the tea temperature longer without burning your hand while holding the teacup. Each teapot also comes with a gift box for easy storing and protection.
