It's difficult to obtain teawares from abroad. On average, half of the teaware that comes into our warehouse is damaged. Although they are still quite functional, most of them have minor flaws. In the past, we have utilized these for our teahouse. We're now at a stage where we just have too many of this imperfect teaware, which are still fully functional and useful in common usage. If you don't mind a slightly chipped or dinged teaware, this is a good place to look. You may save a lot of money by shopping here. We will post photos in the listing about the imperfection. All transactions are final except as noted otherwise. Please ask any questions about the product before making your purchase if aren't sure.
The purple clay material of this gaiwan is extremely well made and is doubly absorbent: first, the thick, heat-absorbent earthenware material prevents your fingers from getting burned. Second, as you use this gaiwan, you'll find your tea season the very clay cup itself, infusing your favorite tea's flavor into the material. As you use this gaiwan more, you'll notice that your tea will taste smoother and bolder over time. But don't wash this gaiwan with soap––you don't want the clay to absorb the flavor of your detergent, do you? Also, we recommend you not use this gaiwan for brewing herbal blends or flavored teas.
