A lot of people love drinking GABA because of its effect but rarely we heard people love the flavor of GABA tea. This one though, is a real treat! It's got a special something that really stands out. People just can't get enough of its delightful mix of sweet and sour flavors, like a juicy plum, raisin, and even some fresh peaches and mangosteen.
This GABA Oolong tea comes from Nantou, Taiwan, a region known for its tea culture. Its unique processing method, introduced by the Japanese in 1984, involves flushing the leaves with nitrogen during oxidation. This creates a tea with a distinct flavor profile.
GABA Oolong has gained popularity worldwide among tea enthusiasts for its exceptional qualities. To increase GABA levels, a meticulous multi-step process is used. After selecting the finest tea leaves and minimizing oxygen exposure, the leaves undergo an anaerobic fermentation and oxidation process.
This intensifies the GABA content and alters the flavor profile. The fermentation process is carefully controlled and halted when the desired GABA levels are achieved. The tea leaves are then heated to preserve the developed GABA levels and lock in the refined flavors. Experience the richness and unique flavors of GABA tea. Experience the comforting delight of GABA Oolong as you delve into the world of tea.
Gongfu style brewing guidelines:
Preheat your gaiwan using 100ml of water, then brew with 4g of tea at 195ºF (90ºC) for approximately 30 seconds during the initial infusions. Reduce brewing time to 20 seconds for the second and third infusions. Gradually increase the steeping time by 10 seconds for subsequent infusions. You can expect to enjoy 8-10 infusions from your tea leaves.

I have tried both types of gaba oolong from Tea and Whisk. The competition grade is lighter. It’s as if it is hand picked tea. The flavor is better than the gaba oolong, but it didn’t energize me the same way as the plain gaba oolong. I still enjoy this tea and would recommend it.
