I have a brick of this and brewed some for friends. They enjoyed it a lot. Leo had one more in stock and my friends were interested, but I bought it out from under them. Timing was important, and Leo had my order packaged and shipped the same day I placed it. Because of this efficiency, I was able to give this tea to my friends as a housewarming gift. Happy ending!
What's so amazing about this Red Cliff shou? The rinse is pretty dark, which is a good hint what you're in for... It gets progressively darker after this. Individual perception of taste varies widely. I get woodsy and dank, with a slightly sweet aftertaste. My friends get a hint of dark chocolate. It's a very relaxing tea, and really good during (and after) a meal with red meat (I especially like it after a steak with grilled onions, but it also stands up really well to lamb vindaloo).
I never thought I would like a Pu-erh after my first experience with one but this tea changed that. I really enjoy having this tea in the late afternoon or evening and it definitely makes you feel relaxed and calm...so don’t plan on getting anything done for awhile LOL!
Very mellow, a great tea to just sit and sip on
Leo recommended it for the Father's Day sale so I bought 4oz. Very smooth and mellow. A bit tea drunky but slowly. Like it creeps in on you instead of knocking you out right away.
Quality Intro shou puerh not to be undermined. Clean, with a non-obtrusive mixture of earth, wood, light fruit, and camphor notes. Steeps with durability- lasting 5-6 steepings without noticeable decline in flavor. Which makes for a nice session tea. Decent bang for your buck. Although I typically like puerhs which have strong notes of “mummy”, crypt, and old death- this tea has some refreshing brevity.
